Transforming this home built in the early 90s to a true mid-century modern oasis in the desert was pure joy for our company. The homeowner was definitive with her vision and taste. We removed all the separating walls, in the living area, to create a great room/kitchen perfect for entertaining. The flooring throughout is an 18x36 porcelain, concrete look tile for continuity. Two tone custom black and natural walnut finish cabinets with slab doors are sleek yet inviting. The kitchen backsplash is a large format marble look porcelain tile. It gives the illusion of a solid piece of slab without the high slab cost. The shower and tub surrounds are 4x4 white ceramic textured tile and bring a subtle pop of personality. Silestone ultra white sueded quartz was the countertop material used throughout. The light fixtures bring the spaces to life and accentuate the mid-century theme.
To create a more functional home we built a hall closet instead of dated linen cabinets, enlarged the master bedroom by relocating the closet walls, removed dated soffits and added linen cabinets in the laundry, minimized the laundry room size to enlarge the kitchen and changed out the old sliding glass door.
